Alain (Al) is a former naval officer, graduating from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario in 1986. He graduated from the University of Ottawa Law School in 1994. Since that time he has been practicing in the Truro area, joining the partnership of McLellan Richards & Bégin in June 2000.

Alain is bilingual. His practice concentrates on litigation matters. He has appeared before various levels of Court and tribunals. He has handled a significant number of criminal cases and he has experience in large civil litigation matters.

Alain takes an active interest in his community. He has been a Director of the Truro and District Chamber of Commerce since 1995, Chairman of the International Tulip Festival since 1997, President of the Truro Chapter of the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia 1995-2000, and Counsel and Director of the Colchester Action Association of Persons with Disabilities 1995-2000. He was the Truro and District Chamber of Commerce's Outstanding Volunteer of the Year for 1997.
